As (Senior) Data Engineer (f/m/x) you get to build and maintain data systems of one of the most promising impact start-ups in Europe! Join us on a part- or full-time basis (30-38.5h/week) at our HQ in Vienna, Austria. Work in an international work atmosphere and learn next to an experienced team of leaders and domain experts. The job can be done remotely. However, due to legal requirements, you should have your main point of living in Austria (or be registered as a freelancer).

In this role, you will:

  • Solve complex problems in a data-driven and quickly scaling environment that aims at having a sustainable impact, such as helping to build our Product Impact Assessment platform, which should enable brands & producers to understand and lower their impact.
  • Collect and integrate product data from various sources into our database, making it available for our users.
  • Apply NLP methods and other machine learning algorithms to automate and scale our approaches.
  • Support our partners in adapting their data sets and provide them with methods for ingesting and matching product data.
  • Work with the backend development team to identify and implement improvements to our data schemas and workflows (in Apache Airflow).
  • Work with a tech stack, comprised of Python, SQL(Postgres), Apache Airflow, Docker, Github, Sentry.
  • Work with inoqo’s data team to understand the quality of impact data and provide ways to improve it.
  • Play a key role in building and growing a world-class data engineering/science team, in close alignment with our development and data team.


You're a fit because:

  • You have a passion for data management, data quality, and databases, and you are familiar with formats like CSV, XML, and JSON.
  • You have 5+ years of experience with software & data engineering in Python (Pandas, Apache Airflow, etc.) and SQL.
  • You can apply NLP techniques to automate workflows.
  • You know best practices and workflows of how to efficiently handle large amounts of data.
  • You like to find solutions rather than problems and have demonstrated your advanced analytical thinking capacities by making product decisions based on data and A/B testing.
  • You bring some experience in managing smaller teams and guide others on their learning journeys (ideally 2+ years of experience in a managerial role).
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English, German is a plus but not a must.


Nice-to-Have(s):

  • You have experience with Web technologies and/or REST APIs.
  • You have experience with GitHub, Docker, Elasticsearch.

The minimum salary according to the collective agreement for this position is €3.730,00 gross per month (full-time basis, x14). However, we appreciate your expertise and skills and will be discussing your final salary together depending on your experience.
